Today is May Day and also the 103rd birthday of SVF! Since the establishment of Shanghai Zengmao Hardware Factory, the predecessor of Shanghai Valve Factory, in 1921, for more than 100 years, SVF has gone from a handicraft workshop on the Huangpu River in Shanghai to a leading enterprise in the industry, from having nothing to filling domestic gaps, from hard work to openness and excellence, and has accumulated a profound historical and cultural heritage. Generations of people from the upper class have used their diligent hands to jointly write a magnificent chapter of labor for the upper class. Let's follow the development process of SVF together, witness the changes of the times, and look forward to the glory of the future together!
Looking back a hundred years, the waves have become gentle waves
At the beginning of the 20th century, with the opening of Shanghai as a port, a group of industrial enterprises powered by machinery and electricity emerged like mushrooms after rain in the urban area and surrounding areas such as Jiading County. In 1921, Shanghai Zengmao Hardware Factory and Huade Machinery Factory (both predecessors of Shanghai Valve Factory) began producing small diameter low-pressure valves and cast iron valves. The cast iron valve produced by Huade Machinery Factory can have a maximum diameter of 6 inches. In the late 1930s, Shanghai was able to manufacture a variety of copper iron low-pressure valves, not only with registered trademark products, but also with valve manufacturing enterprise clusters. At that time, valves were transliterated as "valve" based on foreign words. Shanghai made "valve" was of reliable quality, sold well throughout the country, and exported to Southeast Asia。
After the establishment of the People's Republic of China, more than 33 valve enterprises, led by Shanghai Zengmao Hardware Factory, achieved mergers and key technologies through private transformation and public-private partnerships. In 1952, Jinlong Hardware Factory (later merged into Shanghai Valve Factory) was the first to successfully trial produce medium pressure forged steel gate valves. In 1961, Shanghai Valve Factory (hereinafter referred to as "Shangvalve"), the first truly valve research institute and enterprise in New China, was officially established. When the factory was built, there were over 400 people and an investment of 5 million yuan. After its establishment, SVF, equipped with industry-leading manufacturing, testing, and testing equipment, provides various types of valve products for power stations, petroleum, chemical, fertilizer, metallurgy, and other industries in China, with a total of more than 1000 varieties and specifications. The minimum diameter of the products is 3mm, only a few ounces; The maximum diameter is 1000 millimeters, weighing over 30 tons。
From the key core equipment of national major projects in the 1970s, to early aerospace equipment such as the Dongfanghong series satellites in the 1980s, and to the Qinshan Nuclear Power Plant in the 1990s, there are "SVF" brand products. It is these valves, big or small, that "control" the opening and closing of the operation nodes of national heavy weapons. At that time, the variety of "SVF" products and the level of complete equipment were in a leading position in China. In addition to supplying the domestic market, they were also exported to more than 30 countries including Western Europe and the United States, creating nearly 1 million US dollars in foreign exchange annually。

In the process of development and growth, SVF has formed an inseparable bond with nuclear power valves. Nuclear power valves are widely used equipment components in nuclear power plants and are essential components for ensuring the safe operation of nuclear power plants. Against the backdrop of a late start and poor foundation of nuclear grade valves in China, the SVF overcame numerous difficulties and successfully developed the first batch of nuclear grade safety valves in 1974. It produced 368 nuclear valves in 64 specifications and 5 varieties for the first phase of the Qinshan Nuclear Power Station project, which was built by China, and made an important contribution to the localization of nuclear power valves。
The wind rises and the tide surges, breaking through the situation and opening a new chapter
Since the 1980s, with the wave of reform and opening up, China has begun to organize backbone enterprises to introduce advanced technologies and processing equipment for similar foreign products. International mainstream valve products and ASME/ANSI standards for valve design, manufacturing, testing, and related material standards have gradually been accepted by the domestic valve industry, and valve manufacturing technology and product quality have rapidly improved. Since 1979, the A42Y-16 full open safety valve has won the National Silver Award, while the A41H-16 and A47H-16 micro open safety valves have won the Shanghai High Quality Product Award and the Ministry of Machinery Industry's Trusted Product Title. The OE40H-16 medium pressure gate valve has been awarded the Excellent New Product and Municipal High Quality Product Certificate by the National Economic Commission. In the 1990s, Shanghai Valve Factory became one of the first valve manufacturers in the valve industry to obtain a design and manufacturing license issued by the National Nuclear Safety Administration。
In the late 1990s, due to market weakness, overcapacity, and the emergence of management system shortcomings, a group of enterprises fell into comprehensive operational difficulties. According to the recollection of senior employees of SVF, from 1996 to 1998, the valve factory had insufficient orders, and workers' wages could not be paid normally. The enterprise was in a state of working for three days and resting for four days. In 2001, SVF cooperated with foreign capital to establish a joint venture company and seek new development directions。
In 2005, the reform of state-owned assets and enterprises in Shanghai was further deepened. In February, the State Council issued the "36 Articles on Non Public Economy", allowing non-public capital to enter monopolistic industries and fields such as electricity and telecommunications, further introducing market competition mechanisms, and creating a new landscape of proxy property rights system reform with the interweaving of state-owned enterprise reform and private enterprise development and growth. During this period, under the leadership of factory director Wang Jianke and his team, SVF actively responded to relevant national policies and ushered in a new round of restructuring。
Innovate and establish a mission to help "Hualong" go global
After the restructuring, SVF pays more attention to the development of new products. After experiencing some twists and turns, SVF personnel understand that only by continuously investing in technological innovation can they maintain a competitive advantage in the rapidly changing market. After nearly four years of development after restructuring, both the "soft power" and "hard power" of SVF have made substantial improvements. In 2012, Shanghai Valve Factory developed the first 300MW nuclear power regulator safety valve and main steam safety valve prototype simulator in China, and obtained the design and manufacturing licenses for nuclear first, second, and third level safety valves issued by the National Nuclear Safety Administration. It regained the key to entering the nuclear power field and became one of the few domestic enterprises with nuclear first level valve design and manufacturing capabilities。In recent years, under the policy background of "building a new development pattern and promoting high-quality development" in the country, SVF has achieved deep integration of information technology and industrialization in the valve industry through intelligent control processes and modern precision management. On the one hand, it has promoted the localization of key valves, and on the other hand, domestic valves have played a role on a larger stage with China's independent nuclear power projects such as "Hualong No.1" going overseas。
